How to read the Iran desk
Persian is the language of the Tehran press. English is the Tehran Times and the agencies' English pages. That is the version prepared for outsiders.
IRNA and ISNA are state agencies. Mehr is state-linked. Fars and Tasnim sit with the security establishment, not with a city desk. Knowing which door you opened is how you read them. It is not a score.
What people argue about in Persian is larger than an English item on the nuclear file or the street. If the only Iran you see is a wire from Washington, you are not using this desk.
This is the Islamic Republic of Iran. It is not a sanctions headline with a dateline.
