How to read the Ukraine desk
Ukrainian is the language of the Kyiv press. If you cannot read it, you are reading the war in English. That layer is large, and it is not the country.
Ukrainska Pravda is the local door. Ukrinform is the state wire. Interfax-Ukraine is an agency, not a ministry. The Kyiv Independent is the English newsroom. Use it, and do not stop there.
Russian-language titles still publish, inside the country and outside it. They are not all on this short list. A wartime desk loses papers and grows new ones. We list what is here. We do not pretend the list is the whole argument.
This is Ukraine, not Russia. The wires blur them because the war is the story. Open a Ukrainian door before you take a Moscow rewrite, or a Washington one, as the local version.
