How to read the Saudi Arabia desk
Arabic is the language of the Saudi press. Okaz is a newspaper. SPA is the state agency. Arab News is the English door. Al Arabiya is a regional broadcaster on this list. It is not a Riyadh daily.
English on the kingdom is the court, oil, and sport, written for outsiders. The Arabic papers are how the country talks to itself, inside limits the country sets. We do not pretend those limits are absent, and we do not grade a paper for working inside them.
The list is short because the desk is short. If a story is only in Arabic, that is the desk.
