How to read the United Kingdom desk
English is the language of this list. BBC is the public broadcaster — the closest thing Britain has to a national square. It is not the government newspaper, and it is not independent of a charter and a fight. Treat it as the default door, not as scripture.
The Guardian, the Telegraph, and the Times are papers with politics you can smell from the headline. The Financial Times is the business paper that the rest of the world actually reads. ITV is a broadcaster. We tag them. We do not pick a side.
This is the United Kingdom, not England only. Scottish, Welsh, and Northern Irish titles exist; this first list is the national layer. If a story is only in the Belfast or Glasgow press, you will not see it here yet.
Fleet Street still sets a lot of the English-language weather for Africa and the Gulf. When a Watch24 country desk fills with BBC and Reuters, that is this machine leaking outward. Use the local list on that country before you take London as Lagos.
